MP Elemi participates in a meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on the issue of immigration – Algerian Dialogue

Yesterday, Tuesday, MP Elemi Farida participated in a meeting on the issue of immigration organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union via video lecture.

Elemi’s intervention stated that Algeria, within the framework of its vision to address this phenomenon, sees the necessity of cooperation at the bilateral, regional and international levels in order to build a comprehensive and integrated approach that takes into account the interests of each country of destination, transit and source, with a fair distribution of responsibilities between these countries.

Representative Elemi also stressed the need to find a peaceful solution to the political crises that some countries are going through, especially those related to terrorism, organized crime and human trafficking, by accelerating dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations in order to bring peace and stability to the Mediterranean region.

In the same context, Ms. Elemi stressed the importance of highlighting the fundamental relationship between migration and development and called for assessing the capabilities of migrants from southern Mediterranean countries as active contributors to national, local, regional and international development strategies and highlighting their role in transferring knowledge and skills, transferring funds, and cultural diversity, Openness to and acceptance of other civilizations.
