Minister of Industry: Importing OPEL and JAC cars after starting to build factories – El Hewar Algeria

The Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Ali Aoun, confirmed that the time for granting import licenses to a brand, without building the factory, is over, explaining that the “Jack” and “Opel” brands have obtained accreditation and when they build their factories, import licenses will be granted to them.
Aoun said in a press conference held today, Thursday, on the sidelines of the work and inspection visit that he led to the state of Oran, that JAC and Opel companies have been granted accreditation to manufacture and import cars.
The Minister of Industry stated that these two brands will be able, by the end of the current year, to import cars with Fiat, adding that the field is open to all investors, whether Algerian or foreign, in partnership with national institutions.
The same spokesman revealed that he had witnessed today the success of Fiat’s investment in Algeria, noting that the first Fiat car manufactured in the country will enter the national market next December.
Ali Aoun touched on the completion rate of the factory, which has reached 75 percent, adding, “We will reach 100 percent by the end of the current year.”
And he added, “The factory’s production capacity is estimated at 90,000 cars per year through 3 models. The integrated spare parts are batteries, wheels and plastic parts, and after that other spare parts will be integrated.” Stressing that the integration rate has reached 30 percent.
