The Mauritanian Minister of Trade, Traditional Industry and Tourism, Murabit Ould Panahi, stated that the relationship between Algeria and Mauritania is strong for many reasons. It is strong because it is historical because of the bonds of kinship and neighbourliness, and also because in recent history both countries took a historic stand with the other, in a circumstance characterized by difficulty and the lack of supporters. at that time.

On the sidelines of a meeting with the Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, the Mauritanian Minister confirmed that since the state visit made by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ghazouani to Algeria in December 2021, the Algerian-Mauritanian relationship has witnessed a new development, and the political will of the leaders of the two countries has been confirmed, and their will to develop in this… The relationship, diversifying it and moving it forward until it reaches the level that suits the nature of the relations between the Algerian and Mauritanian peoples.

He added, “The evidence of the development that has occurred in relations is the practical step that was implemented on the ground, which is the opening of an Algerian bank in Nouakchott to facilitate trade exchange between the two countries, and the development of economic cooperation, as well as the maritime line that was established between Algeria and Nouakchott, and the road linking Tindouf and Ziourat.” .

Minister Mrabet Ould Panahi indicated that these completed projects, which are under study, will inevitably enable relations to reach the required level.
