Launching of track laying on the Tindouf-Gara Jbeilat railway project – Algerian dialogue
The company in charge of completing the railway section linking Tindouf to the Gara Jbeilat mine within the Western Mining Line Project has begun laying the track using a special train, with the aim of delivering this section in the year 2025, as it reported, this Sunday, to the National Agency for Studies and Follow-up of the Completion of Investments in Railways. “Ansref”.
This special train consists of eight locomotives for traction and 80 carriers of concrete sleepers and railway tracks, which allows the laying of the railway in this section, which extends over a distance of 135 km, “very quickly,” the same source adds.
This process comes after the Chinese Railway Construction Company “CRCC”, charged with completing this section within the Bashar-Tindouf-Gara Jbeilat Western Mining Line Project, which extends over a distance of 950 km, completed the preparation of “a large part of Bottom platform.”
The Chinese company’s use of this special train comes within the framework of the efforts of the “ANSREF” agency, as the owner of the project, to deliver the Western Mining Line project before the contractual deadlines set for March 2026, as previously reported by L/Waj, the agency’s director in charge of media, Abdelkader Mazar.
For its part, the Chinese company confirmed that the Tindouf-Gara Jbeilat section will be delivered during the year 2025, as it completed, in addition to harnessing this special train, a unit for manufacturing cement beams with a capacity of 3,000 beams/day, in addition to completing units that produce 100,000 tons/day of Gravel.
In parallel, the company intends to complete the surfacing work in this section early next year, and to complete the technical facilities completion work in March 2025.
It is noteworthy that the first section of the Western Mining Line project extends over a distance of 200 km from Bashar to the borders of the state of Beni Abbas, and is undertaken by a group of public institutions. As for the second section, it extends from Umm al-Assal to Tindouf at a distance of 175 km, and the task of its completion has also been entrusted to a group. Another for public companies.
The third section extends over a distance of 575 km and is undertaken by a group of companies led by the Chinese company “CRCC”. This section is divided into two parts, from the 200 km point to Umm al-Assal (Tindouf), at a distance of 440 km, and from Tindouf to Gaara. Jbailat, 135 km away.
