Laqab: “Political independence would not have been complete without media independence” – Al-Hiwar Algeria
Minister of Communications, Mohamed Laqab, confirmed that restoring sovereignty over radio and television was not merely replacing the flag of occupation with the flag of independence, but rather had major political and strategic dimensions.
Laqab explained, during his supervision today of the commemoration of the restoration of sovereignty over radio and television, that independence and sovereignty are an integrated whole that does not accept patchwork or compromise, and political independence could not be complete without media independence.
The Minister of Communications noted in his speech, “What is happening in the world in terms of a media blackout and the publication of pictures, lies, and falsification of facts, especially what is happening in the Gaza Strip, reflects the importance of this anniversary.”
He added: “What is happening in the world in terms of obfuscation, falsification of facts, and spreading lies about what is happening in Gaza, makes us realize the significance of that historical incident when our fathers stood here who were restoring Algerian media sovereignty.”
The Minister of Communication called on all Algerian media institutions to achieve media sovereignty, by producing more news and programs to achieve it.
By the way, Mohamed Laqab has mercy on the souls of all Algerian journalists who died, whether during the glorious editorial revolution or during the various years of independence.
