The player Karim Benzema left Real Madrid, Spain, and with him the supporters of the Royal Club bid farewell to the last ribs of the terrible attacking triangle, which was known in the media as the “BBC” (BBC) and starred for years, winning many championships.
Benzema participated in his last meeting with Real Madrid on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, against Athletic Bilbao in the 38th and final round of the Spanish League, ending a busy career with the team that began in 2009.
Today, Tuesday, a press conference was held at the club’s headquarters to bid farewell to Benzema, and the team’s players were present, accompanied by coach Carlo Ancelotti, club president Florentino Perez, in addition to old players, most notably Raul Gonzalez and Roberto Carlos.
By the way, Benzema said at the farewell conference, on Tuesday morning: “It is difficult to speak at a moment like this. I thank Real Madrid and all my colleagues.”
He added in his speech: “It was a beautiful journey, and I was lucky to live a dream and achieve it, and I thank President Peres for his confidence since I arrived here.”
“I think my time at Real Madrid is over and it’s time for another experience, and everything I’ve achieved will make me very proud for the rest of my life,” the spokesman continued.
Benzema also thanked Real Madrid coach Ancelotti, saying: “I will never forget the best coach who trained me. Thank you very much, and this day is sad because I am leaving.”
He added: “I always dreamed of playing and retiring with Real Madrid, but I had an opportunity that I must take advantage of, and I will continue to follow Real Madrid as all the fans whom I thank and thanks to whom I became who I am.”
For his part, Florentino Perez, President of Real Madrid, praised what Karim Benzema had achieved inside the Santiago Bernabeu castle over the course of 14 years, stressing that the striker would leave the club as one of the greats.
“Today is a very difficult day for me,” Perez said. “I remember all the feelings and emotions of this moment.”
He added, “Dear Karim, you arrived at a young age, you were a child 14 years ago and you have become one of the best players ever.”
And he continued: “It is a beautiful story that started 14 years ago, and now you are one of the greats. Here you can see all the championships that you won with us, 25 titles, you were amazing.”
It is noteworthy that the president of Al-Ittihad Jeddah Club, Anmar Al-Haili, and his deputy, Ahmed Kaaki, went to Madrid yesterday, in order to complete the transfer of Karim Benzema to the club in a record deal.
This comes less than 24 hours after the famous transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, revealed that the star Benzema signed a contract with the Saudi Al-Ittihad club that extends until 2025.
