Kamal Badari, “We have prepared a strategic plan to develop university sports” – Al-Hiwar Algeria

This Saturday morning, a study day was opened entitled: “University Sports, Reality and Prospects” at the Faculty of Medicine – Ben Aknoun – University of Algiers 1. This was in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamal Badari, in addition to the representative of the Minister of Youth and Sports and the head of the National Observatory for Civil Society.
By the way, the Minister of Higher Education stated that his sector is in the process of preparing a strategic plan to develop university sports, and this is in accordance with Commitment 41 of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Stressing that: “This plan will make university sports an essential element in the field of creating this elite of university athletes, which will give a new radiance at the national and international levels to our country.”
He also revealed that this plan consists of two strategic axes: “accompanying the Algerian Federation of University Sports in order to perform its duties to the fullest extent, as well as making university sports a medium for revitalization and community cohesion.”
He added: “We will give the signal for the start of university sports competitions on September 19, and thus we will have achieved the outcomes of the Council of Ministers and the recommendations of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to revive them.”
For his part, the representative of the Minister of Youth and Sports stated that sports have a place in the university edifice. He also confirmed that Minister Abdel Rahman Hammad: “insists on his sector’s support for university sports, in order to strengthen and make the commitment of the President of the Republic a success.”
In a speech by the head of the National Observatory, Noureddine Ben Brahem, he said: “He revealed that sport plays a major role in the psychological and physical balance of university students, and contributes to producing the cadres and elites that Algeria is proud of at home and abroad.”
It is noteworthy that Algeria recently ranked first in the Arab world, fourth in Africa and thirty-ninth in the world out of 120 participating countries, with a total of 16,000 student athletes, in the World University Games that took place in the Chinese city of Shangdu, from July 28 to August 9, 2023.
