Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani: Rome supports Algeria’s approach to resolving the Niger crisis – Algerian Dialogue
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani praised, on Wednesday in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, the quality of cooperation between Algeria and Italy, stressing his country’s determination to raise this cooperation to a higher level.
In a special statement to Radio Algeria International to New York, Reem Bukhari, the Italian Minister said that “relations between the two countries are positive and Italy seeks to strengthen them further while promoting consultations regarding many issues, especially stability in the Mediterranean region, development in Africa, illegal immigration, drug crimes and human trafficking.” .
Regarding the Niger crisis, the Italian minister expressed his country’s admiration for the initiative of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to find a political solution away from any military intervention.
In his comment on the speech delivered by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Tuesday during the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Italian minister said, “Certainly, Italy is in favor of expanding membership in the Security Council, but for non-permanent members.”
He also explained in the end that “the two countries are able to offer a lot regarding cooperation in the energy sector, trade exchanges, and other economic fields.”
The Italian official highlighted that the two countries are working together to “establish peace and development in the Mediterranean region and the African continent.”
