There have been several developments regarding the Greens’ list summoned by the new Bosnian coach, Vladimir Petkovic, to attend the current March camp, which will include confrontations with Bolivia and South Africa in the mini-international tournament.
Algeria will host the competition from March 21 to 26, as the Algerian Football Federation chose the Nelson Mandela Stadium in the capital and May 19, 1956 in Annaba to host the matches.
Names likely to be absent from the competition
Vladimir Petkovic called up 31 players out of the 70 included in the expanded list that he attended in anticipation of the aforementioned date, and this is according to what the same coach said during the press conference he held, on Sunday, in the conference hall of Nelson Mandela Stadium in the capital.
The presence of the name of the striker who joined the French club Olympique Lyonnais in the last winter transfer market, Said Benrahma, on this list constituted a question mark due to his injury in his team’s match against Lorient for the French League last week.
The same thing happened with the midfielder of the French club Nice, Hicham Boudaoui, who missed the last two matches with his team, the first in the quarter-finals of the French Cup against Paris Saint-Germain three days ago, and the second against Lens in the French League, yesterday, due to a knee injury.
The Greens’ list included a third name that prevented him from attending an important match for his club due to injury. It concerns pivotal defender Amine Togay, who missed the opportunity to share with his teammates the atmosphere of the Tunisian derby between his club, Esperance, and its traditional rival, Club Africain, on Saturday (the former won 1-0).
These absences did not prevent coach Petkovic from deleting the names of the male trio and relieving them from the camp, as he explained during the press conference the reason for his decision on this option.
He stated on this point by saying: “Out of the 31 players, there are three players that I think are not ready to the required level, but despite this I would like to see them in the camp.”
He added: “Benrahma and Boudaoui, I look forward to meeting them in order to talk and get to know them closely, while Togay is suffering from an injury that is not yet confirmed. However, they can leave later if they are unable to participate.”
