Today, Saturday, in Oran Province, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohamed Abdel Hafid Hani, supervised the official opening of the wild hunting season for the year 2023-2024.
In his speech on the occasion of this operation, which was held in the M’sila Forest (Boutlilis municipality), the Minister reminded forest officials to “take the necessary measures to make wild hunting activity effective by organizing hunters and training them in order to obtain a hunting license, while establishing and defining the areas designated for this activity.”
Hani urged hunters to “respect the hunting plan for each state, which specifies hunting periods, the various types of game that are licensed to be hunted, and the number that each hunter is allowed to hunt.”
In the same context, the Minister called on forest preservers to “accompany hunters through training and take all necessary measures resulting from the opening of the wild hunting season and practicing it in good conditions while taking all preventive and security arrangements for the safety of people and respecting the ecological balance.”
On the occasion, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development also carried out a symbolic shooting of hopscotch game and a symbolic planting of trees in the M’sila Forest.
For his part, the Director General of Forests, Tawahriya Jamal, confirmed on the sidelines of this visit that 22,000 hunters had been formed out of a total of 25,000 hunters who were counted at the national level, while hunting licenses had been granted to 21,000 hunters.
The same official pointed out that the oceans designated for fishing, covering an area exceeding 511 thousand hectares, were counted.
Mr. Tawahriya stated that in recent years, these types of game have been bred at the level of hunting centers and animal breeding centers and released into forests with the aim of reconstructing these natural spaces.
