In pictures.. Hakar is on an inspection visit to the industrial zone in Arzew – Al-Hiwar, Algeria

In continuation of his field visits, which led him to several industrial facilities affiliated with Sonatrach, the President and General Manager of the Sonatrach Group, Tawfik Hakkar, made a working and inspection visit to the industrial zone in Arzew, accompanied by a number of the company’s driving tires.

The program of the visit was initiated by the President, the Director General and his accompanying delegation, by examining the progress of the Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE) production complex project, whose completion works were entrusted to the Chinese group CNTIC / LPEC, within the framework of the contract signed in the form of engineering, supply and construction, with the contribution of the Algerian subcontractor represented by The National Company for Civil Engineering and Construction of Sonatrach.

The CEO of Sonatrach also listened to a technical presentation on the project, whose completion work began on June 19, 2022, and is scheduled to enter into production as of June 2025.

The completion of this new production facility, whose completion period is estimated at 36 months, falls within the framework of the petrochemical industry development program approved by Sonatrach in its medium-term investment plan, while the production capacity of this complex will reach 200,000 tons annually.

The completion of this industrial facility will also allow the production of MTBE, which is used as an additive for the manufacture of unleaded gasoline at the refinery level, thus dispensing with its import, achieving self-sufficiency and oriented towards export by 2025.
