In pictures: Arkab receives the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Chile – Al-Hiwar Algeria

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received today, Monday, at the headquarters of his ministerial department, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile, Ms. Gloria de Lafuente Gonzalez.

This meeting took place in the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to Algeria, officials from the Ministry and members of the Chilean delegation.

On this occasion, the two sides reviewed bilateral cooperation relations in the field of energy and mines and ways to enhance and develop them, especially in the field of fuels, new and renewable energies and energy transition.

They also discussed opportunities for cooperation and investment in the mining sector in Algeria, especially the research, exploitation, transformation and production of mining resources. In this regard, the Minister, while presenting the mining sector development programme, called on Chilean companies to invest in the field of mines and establish mutually beneficial partnerships with Algerian companies, with the exchange of Experience and expertise in these fields, as Chile is one of the leading countries in the field of mineral and industrial exploitation, such as lithium, copper, iron and steel, and the production and processing of phosphate fertilizers.

In conclusion, the two parties agreed to intensify consultations and meetings by forming working teams to identify areas of bilateral cooperation and activities of common interest with the aim of developing a road map for cooperation between the two countries in agreed upon areas.
