The Congolese coach of Al Hilal added: “We are staying in a hotel. This is not the normal situation. Normal is to be in your country. But at least we can play a league in Mauritania and be more competitive.”
Regarding the strategy he adopted to keep the players motivated despite the difficulties, Florent Ibinge explained: “We agreed not to confuse what happens outside and inside the field. We listen to the players, and we play the role of father and mother to them. “It is an exceptional team, because despite what they are going through, they remain focused, alert and give their best.”
He continued: “We sought help from a psychologist during the preparations, and he was very helpful. We are still applying some of the techniques he taught us, and they are helping us a lot, because the situation is still very difficult. Most of the team’s players’ families are in Sudan, and we receive daily news about them. This affects us greatly. For example, recently a player learned that his two brothers had been arrested. In those moments, it’s hard to keep going. “But it also strengthens solidarity within the team, as everyone supports the affected person.”
We note that the Mouloudia Algiers team occupies second place in Group A, with 4 points, two points behind the third-place team. And 3 points from the bottom of the standings, Tanzania’s Young Africans Club.
