Highly advanced technologies to combat the phenomenon of cheating in examinations
Today, Thursday, the Algerian Judicial Council organized a study day on the topic of “criminalizing acts of cheating in exams.” Where it was stressed on the need to rely on modern technological means to avoid acts of cheating during the upcoming final exams.
According to Algerian radio, the representative of the penal pole specialized in combating and combating crimes related to information and communication technologies, Isaac Darrag, confirmed that the pole “has taken preventive and procedural measures. It relies on very advanced technologies to combat fraud. Before and during the course of the final exams for education certificates for various phases.
In the same context, he explained that the National Authority for the Prevention and Combating of Crimes Related to Information and Communication Technologies. A “national committee has been formed to study and monitor suspicious web pages of various active social networking sites. before conducting the examinations to determine the identity of its managers and suspend its activity.”
He added that this committee is composed of officers representing various security services and judges. As well as representatives of the Ministry of National Education. And the Ministry of the Interior and local communities and urban planning.
This committee monitors suspicious pages that publish false information about leaking exam topics to put an end to them.
In this regard, the Attorney General of the Algerian Judicial Council, Moussa Othman, stated that “cheating in exams is a disgraceful act that violates the principle of equality and equal opportunities between those who are preparing for exams, especially the final exams.”
He added, “The Algerian legislator confronted this phenomenon, especially if the fraud exceeded its simple form. To the wide diversion of exam topics.
Othman stated that the penalties stipulated in the law regarding the act of fraud “range between 3 and 15 years in prison.”
He explained that “the penalties have been tightened in the event that the topics of the final exams or the answers are leaked on a large scale. This leads to the cancellation of exams, partially or completely.”
The participants in the school day urged educational institutions to “adopt a comprehensive strategy to combat cheating in exams. It begins with coordinated specialized studies to understand the factors behind the phenomenon of cheating and to develop special treatments for each factor.”
And they called for “holding religious seminars to clarify the dangers of cheating in the exam. And the extent to which it conflicts with the principles of religion and educational goals and values, while educating candidates about its dangers.
