The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Abdel Hafeez Hani, said that the sector is preparing to launch the general agricultural census within the year 2023, in order to update all data related to the production sector and structures.
Today, Sunday, Minister Hani, jointly with Ali Nguel Nyday, Senegalese Minister of Agriculture, Rural Equipment and Food Sovereignty, as the guest of honor this year, supervised the opening ceremony of the activities of the twenty-first edition of the International Exhibition of Agriculture, Livestock Breeding and Agricultural Industries SIPSA, at the Palace of Exhibitions Pine Maritime. Savex, in the presence of Kamal Mawla, Chairman of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, several ambassadors, as well as representatives of several concerned sectors, where Abdel Hafeez Hani emphasized the great dynamism witnessed by the agricultural sector as a major sector for food security, as it now contributes more than 14.7 percent to the internal product. It represents more than a quarter of the active labor force, equivalent to 2.7 million workers, so that the coverage of food needs from the national production reached 75 percent.
In his speech, the Minister of Agriculture spoke about the development of a network of logistical platforms at the level of several states, equipped according to international standards, dedicated to the storage and packaging of agricultural products, which reflects Algeria’s desire to develop the great potential of the states of the south in production and export, especially towards African countries.
