Hamas President in an interview with Al-Wataniya TV: The Zionist entity wants to divide Syria into three countries – New Algeria
In this part of the interview with Al-Wataniya TV, the head of the Movement for Society for Peace, Abdul Ali Hassani, spoke about the Zionist plan aimed at dividing Syria into three countries, and said that it is not easy at all. For this country to regain its strength and its breath, because Syria is not currently going through a moment of natural transition. The country has witnessed divisions, civil war, and foreign intervention, and it is also considered a land of clashes between the great powers.
When we talk about international developments, there is the most prominent point today, which is the focus of public debate in the world, which is the situation in Syria and the fall of the Assad regime. How did you follow the recent developments in Syria?
The Syrian file is linked to the existing transformations in the region and the geopolitical changes that occurred in the axis to which Syria belonged before the fall of Assad. Here we refer to the Iranian axis and Hezbollah. Among the reasons for the rapid fall of Bashar al-Assad there are internal reasons related to the political performance of his regime, which led the country with the logic of tyranny, as it did not The simplest manifestations of dignity were not available to the Syrian people, and this is the same thing that Hafez al-Assad committed to his people during the 1980s in Aleppo, Latakia, and many cities. What Al-Assad the son did was a continuation of the path of Al-Assad the father. These are the manifestations that he experienced. The Syrian people have become one of the people most exposed to tyranny, and of course any regime that builds its state on tyranny and tyranny will come a day when it falls and the elements for its continuity end.
The other thing that should be highlighted is that the Assad regime was leading in its country based on external alliances that helped it greatly to continue and remain in power, and among those alliances was its alliance with Russia and Iran, and when the battle intensified, its allies dispensed with it, and this is a lesson for every regime that builds its existence on support. The thing that should be emphasized is that these countries have no ally and what matters to them is their interests, which was stated in the statements of the Russian Foreign Minister, who said that “the priority for us is our ongoing war with Ukraine.”
We referred to this in the first statement we issued immediately after the fall of Assad, in which we declared our support for the Syrian people and their desire to achieve a democratic transition that would enable them to get rid of the manifestations of tyranny under which they were groaning and which had affected all of Syria. The economic situation continued to deteriorate as the Syrian national income declined. From $35 billion in 2012 to $9 billion in 2024, this indicator is sufficient to express the tragedy in Syria.
To what extent will previous fears disappear, especially since the new Syrian administration is supported by regional and international powers?
We did not say that fears have disappeared from Syria, quite the opposite, because it has entered the most dangerous and difficult stage in its history, because in order for the Syrian people to overcome this smooth transition, it must get rid of external interference and all external agendas, as the Syrian people must build their future by rallying around their institutions in a democratic manner. Unanimously, because the Syrian people are a people of many orientations, whether religious, ethnic, or sectarian, and all of this difference would fuel strife in the region, especially since the Zionist entity took advantage of the opportunity and undermined all the capabilities of the people. The Syrian regime attacked the military capabilities and assassinated the scholars in Syria while trying to impose its logic on the Syrian people.
Do you think that Syria’s geographical and geopolitical location allows Syria today to build its future without any external interference?
It is not easy for it to regain its strength and breath, because Syria is not currently going through a moment of natural transition. The country has witnessed divisions, civil war, foreign intervention, and a land of clashes between the great powers. America is present in the northeast and the Zionist entity is present in the southwest. The current problems will not enable it to rise quickly. It requires time and the Syrian people’s conviction that they must play their role And preserving the unity of its territory, especially since the Zionist entity threatens to divide Syria into three states, meaning that the plan is ready and aims to create a state for the Kurds in northern Syria, Iraq, southwestern Turkey, and part of Iran.
There are those who follow the international scene who link these transformations to the rise of Donald Trump. What are the repercussions of this rise at the international level?
The general trends demonstrated by Trump and what is happening in European countries such as France, Germany and Britain are experiencing stifling political crises, and this is due to the rise of the extreme right, including Trump, but behind him there are institutions. America constitutes 80 percent of institutions, so the management is not based on the desires of a president alone, but we can confirm However, there is Zionist penetration into American and European decision-making centers and even into the direction of global diplomacy that serves today to enable the Zionist entity to control resources, technological superiority, economic development, and management of various conflict areas. In favor of the project, but the message confirmed today is that the West and the East will not be our friends, and here it can be said that those who today want to spread chaos on the African coast are friendly countries, and I can point to Russia, for example, as these countries do not work in accordance with values, principles and strategic alliances..
