Algerian international striker Amine Gouiri contributed, on Sunday, to his club Rennes’ victory over its guest, Stade Reims, with a score of 3-1, in the thirteenth round of the French League championship.

Guerri opened the scoring for Rennes early in the match, which was played at Roazon Park.
The Greens striker took advantage of the poor positioning of Reims’ defenders after a push and pull in the operations area, to recover a dropped ball at the second post and put it past goalkeeper Yevan Diove.
The visitors were able to equalize the score through Ivorian club Omar Diakite before the end of the first stage, but they were unable to maintain the tie after Rennes took the lead again through Benjamin Borgo at the start of the second half, before Arthur Thete deepened the gap in the 66th minute.
Thanks to their victory in this round, Rennes rose to tenth place in the overall “League 1” table with 15 points.

“L’Equipe” rewards Gouiri
The French newspaper “L’Equipe” selected the Olympique Lyonnais academy graduate as part of the starting lineup for the thirteenth week of the French League championship.
I gave him a mark of 7 out of 10 for the prominent role he played in the Reims match, which witnessed Rennes returning to winning ways in the league after an absence that extended for five matches (four defeats and a draw).
The series of negative results for the “Brottany” team precipitated the departure of coach Bruno Genesio, to be succeeded by the team’s son, Julian Stephan.
In its next match, Thursday, the French team will face the Israeli club Maccabi Haifa in the fifth round of the group stage of the European League competition.
