The Minister of Finance, Laziz Fayed, confirmed that Algeria is marking the beginning of an important and decisive stage for the modernization of digitization and electronic payment, highlighting that his sector seeks to establish a strong legal and regulatory system in order to develop electronic payment in Algeria while encouraging innovation and fair competition.
The Minister of Finance gave the launch signal for the model city project for electronic payment in Sidi Abdullah, at the level of the National School of Mathematics, in the presence of the Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, and the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bey Triki.
Fayed explained that Algeria is marking the beginning of an important and decisive phase for the modernization of digitization and electronic payment, and its dissemination at the neighborhood and city levels, to serve citizens, with the aim of strengthening electronic payment, at the level of all classes and societal groups, with the aim of raising the nation’s economy.
The minister also added that, in recent years, the country has achieved great progress in the field of providing and developing means of equipment for digital national technology, noting that electronic payment is among the important means of digital and modern technological transformation that provides benefits to the economy.
The Minister stressed that this initiative, the Model City Project for Electronic Payment in Sidi Abdullah, came to embody this city in a pioneering initiative and an exceptional model for creating an electronic environment in order to facilitate infrastructure services and increase financial security.
Fayed also pointed out that the reason for choosing Sidi Abdullah to embody the project falls within the framework of an approach to encourage the creation of economic opportunities in less developed regions, as it will be made a tangible model and launched from the city of Sidi Abdullah Medros due to its modern, innovative nature.
The spokesman highlighted that the Electronic City project for electronic payment will be distributed to Algerian cities and states, indicating the importance of electronic payment, which is among the important means of digital transformation, noting that his sector seeks to establish a strong legal and regulatory system in order to develop electronic payment in Algeria while encouraging innovation and fair competition.
