Extensive recruitment of public hospital institutions in infant circumcision operations in the Algerian capital – El Hewar

The public hospital institutions of Algiers have mobilized all the human and material means necessary to carry out a massive circumcision of children over several days of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Director General of the specialized hospital institution, Salim Zumrli, Zubair Rkayek, confirmed that the institution has mobilized all the necessary means to perform the circumcision of 300 children in response to the requests made by the municipalities neighboring the hospital, associations and scout teams, as 35 children were programmed daily, and the process will continue throughout the last days of the holy month.
Due to the success of this operation and in accordance with the decision of the Ministry of Health aimed at carrying out the circumcision of children in a safe and healthy hospital environment, the same official said that the institution “allocated the department of surgery for this operation after conducting 50 medical analyzes for children of needy families in the hospital laboratory, while other families preferred to carry out these analyzes at their own expense.” .
For her part, in charge of media at the University Hospital Foundation “Mustafa Pasha”, Nassiba Beljoudi revealed that the institution had programmed the circumcision of 33 children, 20 of whom belong to Algerian Islamic scout teams and 13 to associations.
On the other hand, the Director General of the Public Hospital Corporation of Ain Taya (east of the capital), Al-Saeed Mashat, explained that the institution, in coordination with the municipalities of the canton and the associations, has programmed the circumcision of more than 200 children, as the hospital performs 30 circumcision operations every Thursday so as not to obstruct other medical activities on the one hand, and to recruit all staff Medical and semi-medical at the end of the working days after conducting all the necessary examinations and analyzes, and presenting the children to the specialists on the other hand.
According to the same official, the hospital took all the necessary measures to avoid overcrowding, as the first circumcision operation was scheduled on March 30, the second on April 6, and the third on Thursday. As for the rest of the children, and at the request of the associations, they were programmed for the night of the 27th of the holy month.
The hospital institution “Mohamed Lamine Dabaghin” in Bab Al-Wadi also programmed 70 children to have 4 children circumcised every day until the last days of the holy month, after it recruited medical and paramedical teams for two interests, which are general surgery and kidney surgery, according to what was revealed by the general director of the institution, Nafeh. Come.
For reference, the Ministry of Health legalized the circumcision process by issuing strict instructions after the incident in El-Kharroub, Constantine, in 2005, which took place in inappropriate health conditions by unqualified medical staff for 86 children, 13 of whom had serious complications.
Since that period, the Ministry of Health issues every year during the holy month and before the night of the 27th strict instructions stressing the necessity of performing the circumcision in a hospital setting and under the supervision of a qualified medical staff.
Professor Jaafar Hantla, who specializes in pediatric surgery at the University Hospital “Hassani Asaad” in Beni Msous, advised that this operation should be carried out throughout the holy month and even months of the year and not to wait for the night of the 27th of Ramadan, which is a short period of time in which the number of children is large – according to the same specialist. – Which exposes this group to health complications affecting the penis and others to the skin as a result of the burns that the device used in this surgery may cause, in addition to the exhaustion and lack of vigilance suffered by the medical and paramedical staff during this month.
For his part, the specialist in pediatric surgery at the public hospital institution “Al-Jilali Balkhanshir” of Bir Tararia, Professor Musa Ashir, stressed that the institution used to carry out the circumcision of a significant number of children, taking every precaution to avoid the dangers that might result from the operation.
