Experts in renewable energies and applied automation unanimously agree that Algeria possesses the qualifications that make it bet strongly on a “smooth” transition towards the exploitation of renewable energies.
During the second day of the first international conference held under the title “Renewable Solutions for Ecosystems…. Towards a sustainable energy transition”, hosted by Zayan Achour University in Djelfa today, Sunday.

In an intervention on “the need for energy storage,” Professor Saed Mekhilif from Swin Barn University of Technology in Australia considered that the energy transition, which is the topic of the hour for all countries of the world, is considered “very smooth” for Algeria because of its natural capabilities, foremost of which is the vastness of the area and the regions. diverse climatic.

The university, of Algerian origin and a graduate of the University of Setif, who is known internationally for his research and articles published in this field, added that “the exploitation of these natural ingredients must be accompanied by an effort to use locally manufactured technology, especially with regard to the manufacture of batteries and various components of energy production tools, which is the real challenge that must be achieved.” Adopt it.”

For his part, the Palestinian researcher, Haitham Abu Al-Roub, a professor at the American University of Texas in the State of Qatar and director of the Smart Grids Research Center, stressed that “the future of renewable energies is promising for Algeria due to several natural data that make it a supplier of clean energies with distinction and also enable it to provide domestic and even external demand.” “.

On the sidelines of the work of this conference, which witnessed the participation of researchers from 14 foreign universities and others from several national universities, the Director of Studies at the General Directorate of Scientific Research and Technological Development at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Issa Mufghegh, stressed that the issue of energy transition is of “great importance in the endeavor to implement programs with priority in national politics.

The same official said, “The issue of energy security has been separated in theory since 2011, when a program was established in this regard towards energy transformation, so that its plan would be modified in 2015 and enriched in 2020.” The national programme.

Mufghegh believes that “despite Algeria’s abundant natural capabilities that qualify it for an efficient energy transition represented in heat, air, wind energies and solar energy, the urgent need now, after evaluating the path of the competent bodies, is the concerted efforts of all sectors in an integrated manner to implement the energy transition program.”

Regarding the work of this forum, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of “Xian Achour”, Professor Ahmed Hafifa, director of the Applied Automation and Industrial Diagnostics Laboratory, said that the exploitation of renewable energies that Algeria is betting on thanks to its components and strategic plans comes in line with global challenges in this field and in the context of achieving its energy security. .
