Director of the Digitization Project at the General Directorate of Customs: Good demand for new digital procedures and services for the benefit of travelers – Algerian Dialogue
Boutaleb explained in a statement today, Monday, that “the services have been circulated to all customs centers and offices. There is no marine station, border post, or airport that does not have this service. We have reached more than 37 thousand transit documents through the digital information system, and we have more than 8,000.” An electronic declaration of hard currency.
Last November 1, the General Directorate of Customs launched the new information system units for travelers, related to the issuance of transit bonds for vehicles and the electronic declaration of currency and valuable items, and this is among the digital services provided by this system.
In this regard, the official called on travelers to pre-register on the digital platform of the new information system, in order to prepare the declaration for the document before arriving at the customs office at the border center or port, in order to speed up customs procedures and avoid queues.
Travelers can also benefit from these services by opening an electronic account by accessing the electronic portal of the new information system for Algerian customs “https://alces.douane.gov.dz”.
In the same vein, the spokesman pointed out that registration on the site is “quick and easy,” stressing that “if the traveler does not pre-register, the customs process will be delayed at the border center level, as the goal is to reach a digital, not physical, environment.”
Regarding a question regarding the digitization project of the General Directorate of Customs in general, Boutaleb explained that the Directorate has made great strides in the path of digitization through developing the technological infrastructure, represented by the “Data Center” data center, modernizing the fiber optic network, and communications via the ComSat 1 satellite, which covers the customs centers. Remotely, as well as through software development through the new program “Alces”.
He added that the directorate’s frameworks and engineers are currently being trained to manage the information system and infrastructure, especially the communications network and a data center, to ensure the provision of better digital services, especially for the benefit of economic operators, shipping agents, and those declaring themselves to customs, banks, and port institutions.
The matter mainly relates – says the spokesman – to the shipping tracking system, the electronic customs system, the electronic clearance system, and the management of collections, highlighting, on the other hand, that export operations and accompanying exporters are among the priorities of the customs administration, which translates into simplifying and facilitating customs procedures for exporters on a permanent basis.
