Cooperation between the Ministries of Higher Education and Fisheries for the benefit of these institutions – New Algeria

A framework agreement for cooperation was signed between Ministry Higher education and scientific research, and the Ministry of Fisheries and Fishing Products, with the aim of promoting training in the marine fishing sector.

This comes on the sidelines of the University of Continuing Training’s organization on Thursday, June 6, 2024, of a specialized national symposium entitled “Training and scientific research in the service of the marine fishing and aquaculture economy,” and this in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Abdel-Hakim Ben Tlis, and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Marine Fishing and Fisheries Resources. , Professor Muhammad Bin Qarina, where framework agreements for cooperation were signed between the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Marine Fisheries and Fisheries Resources, as well as between the University of Continuing Training and the Directorate of Research, Training and Guidance at the Ministry of Marine Fisheries and Fisheries Resources.

For his part, Bin Qurayna stressed the need to create a stimulating economic environment based on training, scientific research and innovation, which is an area of ​​specialized training intervention undertaken by institutions of higher education and scientific research.

In this regard, the agreement signed between the last two parties is based on the experience gained by the University of Continuing Training in the field of training, as it provides an educational environment consistent with the development of skills and knowledge in person and remotely, and it can also play a major role in providing specialized educational programs and continuous training courses. Which aims to develop the capabilities of workers in the marine fishing sector. Within the framework of strengthening coordination between the two ministries, the two sectors decided to create a knowledge space that is compatible with the training needs expressed by the various actors and in which various developments in the field of training, education, and scientific and technological research related to the marine fishing economy and fishing products are presented and evaluated.

For his part, the director confirmed university Continuing training, Professor Dr. Yahya Jaafari, in his opening speech, said that since its inception, the university has registered more than a million students, of whom approximately 200,000 graduated, and it has also participated in training more than 400,000 employees from various sectors. In connection with the implementation of the agreement, it is expected to launch a number of professional bachelor’s and master’s training programs that will include specializations related to the marine fishing and aquaculture profession. This includes a professional bachelor’s degree in the specializations of freshwater aquaculture, fishing navigation, marine aquaculture, and marine electromechanics.

The interventions of specialists and experts during the symposium focused on the importance of this partnership, as Mr. Harwadi Farid, Inspector General of the Ministry of Fisheries and Fisheries Products, gave a presentation on the sectoral vision for the development of marine fishing and aquaculture, Horizons 2030. In the context, the speaker mentioned the expansion projects that the sector intends to accomplish, where the transition will take place. Soon for the first time fishing in the high seas, which requires equipment and training consistent with the technological needs of working in these difficult areas, as the sector aims to double production to reach more than 200 thousand tons annually by the year 2030.
