Confederation Cup.. Algerian Union defeats ASEC Mimosas by three and snatches the lead – Algerian Dialogue
USM Alger defeated its guest, the Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas, with a score of 3-0 (first half: 2-0), on Sunday evening at the 5 July Olympic Stadium in Algiers, for the third round of the group stage of the third group of the African Confederation Cup (CAF).
As expected, the Algerian club controlled the course of play from the first minutes with the intention of opening the registration window early and conducting the match comfortably. After the start of the second half, Belkacemi returned again, gifting Ittihad Algeria a safety goal in the 54th minute.
For the same round, Botswana’s Oraba United club tied earlier today against its Senegalese guest, Jaraf, with a score of (0-0), in Francistown (Botswana).
Following this round, Susatara Club occupies the lead in Group C with 7 points, followed by ASEC Mimosas (4 points), while Oraba United of Botswana and Jaraf of Senegal are at the bottom of the standings with two points each from two draws and a loss.
As for Algeria’s second representative, the Constantine Sports Club, it was defeated in the last moments of the match by the Angola club Bravos do Macies with a score of (2-3), the first half (0-2) in the meeting that brought them together this Sunday evening in Wanda (Angola), for the group’s account. First for competition.
Al-Shabab was defeated in the first half (0-2) by goals from Basiancia (17th minute, penalty kick) and Francis (21st minute), before returning strongly in the second half through Mwaqi (63rd minute) and then Bilawal (80th minute). However, Al-Shabab received A fatal third goal in stoppage time, scored by Junquera (90+4).
This defeat puts an end to six consecutive victories recorded by the Smurfs in the first and second preliminary rounds and the group stage.
For the same group, the Tanzanian club Simba, earlier today in Dar es Salaam, defeated the Tunisian club Sfaxien (2-1), scored by Dennis Kibo (7th minute, 90+9) for Simba and Haj Hassan (3rd minute) for the Sfaxien club.
After this round, CS Constantine, Tanzania’s Simba Club and Angola’s Bravo de Macies share the top spot in the group with 6 points for each team, while CS Sfaxien is at the bottom of the group without a score.
