Compensation for fishermen affected by torrential rains upon completion of the Algerian census process

Fateh bin Khalifa, Deputy Director of Social and Professional Promotion at the Ministry of Marine Fishing, said that a local committee has been installed to supervise the enumeration of all ships affected by the recent torrential rains at the level of “Khamisti Port” and “Fishing Shelter in the Municipality of Fouka”, where the process of counting the damage and remnants of weather fluctuations reached The identification of affected professionals is about 70 percent.

Today, Monday, bin Khalifa affirmed that the affected fishermen who lost fishing boats and vessels will be compensated as soon as their count is completed accurately, and this is in implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic, during his presidency yesterday, Sunday, of the Cabinet meeting. He pointed out that about 25 fishing vessels in the port of Khemisti and about 150 small craft vessels were damaged, stressing that the process of counting and determining the damage “is still continuing until now.”

Fatih Ben Khalifa added that the local committee, which operates under the supervision of the governor of the state of Tipaza and representatives of the Directorate of Sea Fishing, the Chamber of Sea Fishing and Aquaculture in the same state, and professional associations, has currently counted the damage to nearly 1,000 professionals, a process that is also carried out in partnership with the Algerian Chamber of Fisheries and Aquaculture. Aquatic associations, professional associations, the local authorities of the state of Tipaza and all sector partners.

On the work of removing the dams at the level of Khemisti port, Ben Khalifa said that the process is continuing, and as soon as it is lifted, the port will be prepared to receive fishermen again.
