The Audiovisual Control Authority issued a statement regarding the segment “Leave it on my Lord,” which is broadcast on the private Al-Nahar channel.
The text of a statement said: “Without receiving a complaint, we took the initiative to listen to the parties concerned about the issue of the episode that was broadcast on Al-Nahar channel, in which the allegations of the father of a girl were presented in which he confronts an imam regarding the process of collecting donations for his daughter’s treatment.”
According to the same source, the television program “Leave it on my Lord” on Al-Nahar channel sparked controversy and discussed a social issue that sparked intense debate on social media, which resulted in “fallacies and ambiguity.” The investigation is being conducted carefully to understand all aspects related to the case and to consider what procedures and wisdom require to ensure that the law is applied correctly and fairly in order to issue institutional and final decisions on the basis of which the authority will make its final decision.
The statement explained that in view of the controversy caused by the television program “Keep It On My Lord,” which is broadcast on the “Al-Nahar TV” channel. During which a social issue was discussed that sparked a “sharp debate” on social media and what was reported as “fallacies and ambiguities,” the authority believes that “it is necessary to clarify to public opinion that it always and automatically monitors television programs after they are broadcast and looks into the incidents in which violations were recorded on its own initiative.” Or based on complaints from the parties.”
In this context, the authority confirms that it is “looking into the case of the TV channel program regarding the segment during which the allegations of a girl’s father were presented in which he confronts an imam regarding the process of collecting donations for his daughter’s treatment.”
It also explains that it “took the initiative, without receiving any complaint, to listen to the parties,” as the investigation is being carefully conducted to understand all aspects of the case and to consider them in depth, as required by procedures and wisdom, to ensure that the law is applied correctly and fairly, with the aim of issuing institutional and final decisions on the basis of which the authority will make its final decision.
The authority reminds that raising public debates on social issues through all audiovisual means requires great care for objectivity and respect for ethical and legal standards, especially taking into account reservations when broadcasting testimonies, ensuring equality and impartiality, providing the right of response and correction to the parties, and avoiding exploiting human suffering to belittle the status and dignity of individuals for the purposes of excitement and popularity. Or any other goals.
The authority notes the necessity of respecting all laws of the Republic when practicing audiovisual activity, while recalling that fundraising issues require prior licenses from the competent authorities in accordance with the provisions of Order No. 77-3 regarding fundraising.
It is committed to promoting public dialogue and encouraging active participation in social issues and continues to monitor and review audiovisual programs to ensure that these discussions remain value-added and contribute to enhancing societal understanding and understanding.
