The Algerian gives an assist
The absence of Baghdad Bounedjah from visiting Al-Duhail Club did not prevent him from contributing to his teammates scoring the goals of the match, as he was behind the penalty kick that enabled Al-Sadd to equalize the score through Qatari Akram Afif in the 57th minute.
During the first stage, referee Salman Falahi prevented Baghdad from scoring his sixth goal in the league after announcing an offside incident caused by his colleague who participated in the shot.
Al Sadd trailed in the score at the start of the match, after conceding a goal from the header of the Qatari player of Algerian origin, Karim Boudiaf (10 minutes).
Bounedjah’s teammates dominated the second half, and they translated that advantage into Ecuadorian Gonzalo Plata scoring the lead goal with a powerful shot in the 59th minute.
The African champion returned to leave his mark once again, as he provided a pass on a plate to Akram Afif in stoppage time of the match, ending Al-Duhail’s hopes of returning the result.
Afif raised his tally of goals after this double to 12 goals, ranking second on the list of top scorers in the Expo Stars League behind Algerian Yassine Brahimi, captain of Al Gharafa Club (13 goals).
