Blailey is threatened with suspension by FIFA – Al-Ikhbariya
The issue of Mouloudia Algiers star Youssef Belaili and his former club, Al-Ahly Saudi Arabia, has resurfaced despite reports that the two sides had reached an agreement to end the dispute.
Al-Khobar newspaper reported on Sunday that FIFA had warned Blaili and threatened him with a two-year suspension if he did not pay his outstanding debts to the Saudi team, which amounted to $450,000.
The Algerian’s termination of his contract without the approval of Al-Ahly management led to the latter moving to file a complaint against him in 2021.
The representative of the city of Jeddah paid three million euros in the summer of 2019, in order to bring in the African champion at the time, who was active in the ranks of the Tunisian Esperance Sports Club.
Media reports confirmed in March 2021 that the legal dispute between Blaili and Al-Ahly officials had ended after both sides showed flexibility in negotiations in order to resolve the issue amicably.
Al-Ahly managers then stipulated that the native of Oran pay 1.6 million euros, which represents part of the money he receives when he signs the contract.
The Saudi team’s lawyer later stated that Blaili provided the first part of the amount while promising to deliver the rest at a later date.
Winds blow counter to what ships desire
Youssef Belaili’s return to professionalism in the Algerian league was accompanied by a great media sensation, as the details of the player’s contract, especially the financial ones, made headlines in local newspapers.
Some media sources discussed the issue of the former Al-Khader star with Al-Ahly, linking it to the negotiations that preceded his signing for the Mouloudia Club of Algeria, where there was talk about Blaili’s requirement for the administration of President Mohamed Hakim Hajj Rajam to settle his outstanding dues with the “Royal Club” before granting his final approval.
The player made a strong start in the first professional league championship this season, as he led his team to lead the overall table of the competition, and topped its scorers list with 10 goals.
What nominated him to return to the national team less than a month before the start of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ivory Coast. Will this outing disturb Blayli’s peace of mind and hinder him from wearing the green colors again?
