Ataf and his Mauritanian counterpart sign a memorandum of understanding on political consultations between the two countries – the Algerian dialogue

Today in Nouakchott, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Ataf, held a private meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mohamed Salem Ould Marzouk.

The meeting was later expanded to include members of the Mauritanian and Algerian delegations, before the two ministers signed, in the ministry’s meeting room, a memorandum of understanding on political consultations as a sustainable mechanism for regular consultation between them on issues of common concern. Which will have a great impact on strengthening and supporting the political relations between them, and laying solid foundations that guarantee the continuation of raising the level of cooperation between them for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples, as an embodiment of the strong political will of the leaders of the two countries, His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani and his brother, His Excellency President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The meeting was attended on the Mauritanian side by the Ambassador, Director General of Mauritanian Common Interests and Support, Masar Sissogo, Acting Secretary General of the Ministry, Major General Hanan Ould Hanoun Ould Sidi, Director General of External Security and Documents, the Ambassador in charge of the mission of Hosni Lefqih, and the Ambassador, Director General of the Directorate of Bilateral Cooperation, Mohamed Al-Hanshi Al-Kitab, the Ambassador, Director of the Arab World in the Directorate of Bilateral Cooperation, Omar Muhammad Babu, the Ambassador, Director of Africa in the same Directorate, Hamza Maalim, and the Assistant Director of Protocol, Amna Ashraf Ahmed.

On the Algerian side, it was attended by Mohamed Ben Attou, the Algerian ambassador accredited to Mauritania, the Director General for Documentation and External Security, Muhanna Djebar, the Director General for Africa at the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Salma Haddadi, and the Director of the Maghreb, Mourad Louheidi, and in charge of studies and systems at the Minister’s Diwan, Idriss. Atrash, and a member of honors, Boualem Mokhtari.
