In his speech delivered on this occasion, the Minister touched on the importance that the energy and mining sector attaches to the employment policy, given the great challenges that the sector faces, by accompanying and embodying the various structural projects completed or under implementation at the national level, which fall within the government’s work plan that It aims to promote employment and combat unemployment through an economic approach.
In the same context, the Minister revealed statistics related to the sector, where the number of employees in it at the end of the year 2023 reached approximately 298 thousand, which allowed the creation of more than 5,600 direct job positions, in which the female component represents more than 43% of the total workforce.
Arkab also noted in his speech that the employment policy is subject to regulatory procedures and laws for transparent and strict management and facilitating the integration of job seekers into professional life, which includes selecting and employing the workforce and promoting training through vocationalization in the southern states, starting with the processing of deposited job offers, Until we employ the required workforce that goes along with the testing and selection process.
He also pointed out that the public economic institutions affiliated with the sector, such as the Sonatrach, Sonelgaz and SONARAM groups, contribute to the development of specialized training programs to qualify young people and provide them with the necessary skills to work in this vital sector by strengthening cooperation with educational institutions and universities to develop specialized educational programs such as the Algerian Institute of Petroleum (IAP). , the Algerian Institute of Mines (IAM), and the Institute of Training in the Field of Electricity and Gas (IFEG), not to mention concluding several agreements with companies working in the field of digitization, artificial intelligence, and the production of knowledge and new technology within the framework of supporting and promoting emerging companies. The Minister also stressed the need to create handling opportunities for the benefit of Algerian institutions, whether public or private, that create wealth and are able to meet the demands of the sector’s companies for goods and services, thus allowing the creation of permanent job opportunities for these companies, and this is within the framework of supporting the national integration policy for the manufacture of equipment and spare parts. In conclusion, the Minister stressed the keenness of public institutions affiliated with the energy and mining sector to take all necessary measures and procedures in order to support and promote the national employment policy.
