Appointment of the jury for the President’s Award for Professional Journalist

The Minister of Communication, Mohamed Laqab, supervised, on Saturday, at the Ministry’s headquarters, the appointment of members of the jury for the ninth edition of the President’s Award for Professional Journalist, which this year is allocated to three topics instead of one topic, as was usual in a previous period, and this is under the directives of the President of the Republic.

In a speech he delivered before the members of the committee, headed by Dr. Belkacem Ahsan Jaballah, Laqab said, “I am pleased to supervise the installation of this committee in this celebratory manner for the first time since the award was announced, to give it the dimension it deserves and to add added value to the Professional Journalist Award.”

Laqab stressed that this year the committee includes prominent names in the media work, which adds value and credibility to this award. He also extended his sincere thanks to all its members for accepting membership in the committee, highlighting that this year’s award will see some improvements by adopting three topics instead of one topic, as was usual in the committee. A previous period, and this was under the directives of the President of the Republic.

The Minister stressed that all of these topics have been carefully addressed by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, since his election as president of the country, explaining that this diversity would motivate media professionals to participate strongly in this competition, renewing the call for media professionals and photographers to participate strongly, stressing that this competition is not As an ultimate goal, it is part of Algeria’s celebration of National Press Day, which falls on October 22 of each year.

In a previous statement, the Ministry of Communication announced the organization of the ninth edition of the Presidential Award for Professional Journalist, on the occasion of National Press Day, corresponding to October 22 of each year, as the last deadline for receiving nomination files was set for October 10, 2023, and the topics of this edition revolve around One of the following topics: “The New Algeria and the Problem of Food and Water Security,” “The New Algeria: Empowering Youth Energies and Creative Capacities,” “Energy Security and Its Geopolitical Dimensions.”
