Appointment of Karim Khalfan as the new head of the Election Authority – New Algeria

Among his academic contributions, Khalfan published a study on “The Necessity of Reviewing the System of Judicial immunity “Criminal Rights for Heads of State in International Law,” and he supervised the preparation of the book “Economic Rights within the Framework of Achieving Sustainable Development,” which was written by a group of academic researchers within the “International House of Law” series. In addition to his academic career, he worked on studying proposals related to a draft law. elections, where the committee received 48 proposals from various sectors of society, and Khalfan also played a pivotal role in the expert committee charged with formulating proposals to amend Constitution 2020.

Karim Khalfan served as a member of the Independent National Election Authority, as he represented university competencies in this body and was an advisor to the head of the authority. The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, terminated the duties of the head of the electoral authority, Mohamed Charafi, who had headed it since its creation during the popular movement, at the end of 2019.
