An important ministerial decision regarding the university student athlete

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamal Badari, issued a ministerial decision defining the concept of a university student athlete, how to classify him, and his rights and duties, according to what was reported on Tuesday in a statement by the ministry.
The same source explained that this ministerial decision, which includes 23 articles, aims to define the concept of the university student athlete and classify him according to practicing sports in the university environment and participating in the Olympic Games, national and international championships, or the World Cup in individual and group sports disciplines, the holidays and facilities he benefits from, and the sponsorship and care he receives. The student-athlete receives it from the university institution.
The decision stipulates that the student-athlete status is granted to the concerned person after submitting a file with the director of the institution, the dean of the college, or the director of the institute, before October 30 of each year as the last deadline, with filling out the student-athlete form.
The decision is divided into five chapters, the first of which includes general provisions for defining the university student-athlete and classifying him according to level into three categories, which are, respectively: high-level athlete, elite athlete, and practicing athlete.
The second and third chapters specify the rights and duties of the university student athlete, while the fourth chapter addresses cases that require suspension or loss of university student status, and the fifth chapter contains concluding provisions.
On the other hand, the Faculty of Physics of Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology and the Algerian Institute for Training in Nuclear Engineering signed an agreement allowing “the creation of training in medical physics, radiation physics, and radiation protection.”
The agreement was signed by the Director General of the Algerian Institute for Training in Nuclear Engineering, Mokhtar Abbasi, and the Dean of the Faculty of Physics at the Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology, Noureddine Moussaoui, in the presence of the Director of the Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology, Djameleddine Akreche, and the Governor of Atomic Energy, Abdelhamid Mellah.
In this regard, it was noted that this agreement provides an “official framework” for the Faculty of Physics and the Algerian Institute for Training in Nuclear Engineering in order to “cooperate in developing master’s-level training in medical physics, radiation physics, and radiation protection, through the participation of professors and researchers at the faculty and researchers in The Algerian Institute of Nuclear Engineering Training provides lessons and directed and applied work.”
The two sides that signed the agreement will also cooperate to provide doctoral-level training in medical physics, radiation physics, and radiation protection, by “delivering lectures and lessons, proposing topics for doctoral dissertations, and supervising doctoral research work as well as university qualification.”
