Amending the conditions for benefiting from social housing – New Algeria

The Ministry of Housing, Urbanism and the City is working to reconsider Executive Decree No. 08-142 of May 11, 2008, which sets the rules for granting social housing.
Minister Belaribi highlighted that the decree specifying the rules for granting public rental housing will be updated and reviewed, and according to Belaribi, the amended decree will be finally approved and will be published soon.
In this regard, the Minister of Housing, Urbanism and the City responded to a proposal related to the issue of updating Executive Decree No. 08-142 of May 11, 2008, which specifies the rules for granting public rental housing, especially the maximum income limit for benefiting from this form of housing.
The Minister of Housing explained, in response to a written question from a representative in the National People’s Assembly, a copy of which was obtained by Al-Shaab Online, that the housing sector is striving to create housing in various forms that are compatible with the social and material conditions of each segment of society.
The Minister explained in the text of the written response that public rental housing, as a housing formula fully funded from the state budget, is directed to people who have been classified within the needy and deprived social groups, who do not own housing or live in inappropriate housing, and that setting the maximum salary income is 24,000 DZD to obtain Public rental housing falls within the framework of the policy adopted by the state, to achieve this endeavour.
The first official in charge of the housing sector in Algeria added that taking into account the social status of low-income housing seekers is in accordance with the provisions of Executive Decree No. 08-142 of May 11, 2008, which specifies the rules for granting public rental housing.
Regarding other categories, the Minister stated that they can, of course, go to various other housing formulas programmed and allocated according to specific salary levels, as many formulas have been made available to enable other categories to obtain either subsidized subsidized housing, rural housing, or self-construction within the framework of social divisions, With obtaining financial aid from the state.
Regarding the issue of reconsidering and updating Executive Decree No. 08-142 dated 05/11/2008, the Minister confirmed that it is in the process of final approval and will be published soon.
Regarding the proposal to raise the maximum family income set at 24,000 Algerian dinars, within this executive decree, he concluded by saying that this is not possible at the present time, and it is possible to study this proposal in the future according to economic and social variables.
