Algerian dates imposed themselves in foreign markets – Hewar Algerian

The number of date palms producing dates in Touggourt reached 1,457,688 palm trees, with a production achieved during the past year that exceeded one million quintals. Since 2020, five economic operators have invaded the African markets by barter, and the European markets by exporting through ports, and they were able to deliver many types of dates, especially Deglet Nour, to the global, Arab and African markets in an amount More than 932 thousand tons.

In this context, one of the farmers, producers and exporters of dates, Kassem Ben Toba from the municipality of El Nazla, confirmed this Wednesday in a statement to Radio Algeria from Ouargla Abdel Ghaffar Ben Hania that Algerian dates imposed themselves in foreign markets thanks to their high quality.

The white Deglet dates come first in terms of exports, followed by Deglet Nour, where 144,671 tons of this substance were exported, equivalent to 155,079 euros, according to the representative of the Trade Directorate in Touqret Zohour Mokhtari.

As for the specialist in canning and exporting dates, Khalif Abdel Hamid from the municipality of Omar, he believes that the most important characteristic of Wadi Rig dates is that they are free from chemicals and fertilizers, which is the required feature in the global markets.

Farmers and date producers in the Wilayat of Tougret hope to increase state support for this branch to double production, upgrade quality and contribute to national revenues in hard currency.
