Algeria-Oman: Signing 3 memorandums of understanding – New Algeria

The Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed, Ahmed AttafThe eighth session of the Algerian-Omani Joint Committee, which took place today in Algeria, achieved its desired goals on more than one level, revealing the signing of 3 memorandums of understanding and two executive programs.

The Minister indicated, in his closing speech, that the convening of this committee today came within the framework of embodying the high directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his brother Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said. They stressed the need to activate bilateral cooperation mechanisms in order to give additional impetus to the historical relations between our two brotherly countries.

The Minister stressed that this session represented an opportunity to enhance political consultation and coordination. In order to consolidate and consolidate the consensus and conformity of visions and positions that bring our two countries together regarding the rapid developments surrounding us.

He added that this session allowed us to conduct a comprehensive assessment of bilateral cooperation in various fields. This assessment was very positive, especially since the Sultanate of Oman is among the largest Arab countries investing in Algeria in fields that can truly be described as strategic.

He continued that this session has enabled us to identify new priority areas for bilateral cooperation. These are the areas that are at the forefront of our countries’ interests and development efforts at the current stage. Such as renewable energies, pharmaceutical industries, mining resources, desert agriculture, and other fields.

Attaf continued that this session allowed us to involve economic actors and dealers from the Algerian and Omani sides. This is with the aim of stimulating them and urging them to exploit the available opportunities to implement joint investment projects. An example of the exemplary partnership that brings us together in the field of fertilizer production.

Finally, the Minister said, this session has enabled us to enrich the legal framework of our bilateral relations by signing three memorandums of understanding in the areas of environment, social affairs, and the training of judges. As well as two executive programs in the fields of youth, sports, and the National Archives.

It was also agreed to complete negotiations on a significant number of important draft agreements. Which will be signed in the upcoming bilateral agreements expected before the end of this year.

The Minister pointed out that these legal frameworks required us to create and modernize, creating new legal frameworks and updating old legal frameworks.

He explained that the creation of new legal frameworks came to accompany the expansion of cooperation relations between our two brotherly countries into new spaces with proven capabilities and capabilities. As for modernization, it concerned the old legal frameworks. It stems from our common eagerness to respond to all the change, diversity and richness that has occurred in our bilateral relations.

The Minister concluded by saying, “In our view, all of these results are important gains for relations.” Algerian-Omani Which we are very proud of. We look forward to valuing its rich potential through our joint, sincere, honest, and purposeful efforts.”
