Algeria Cup: The draw favors the specialists

The sixteen clubs qualified for the Algerian Cup final got to know their rivals, following the drawing of the draw for the eighth and quarter-final rounds of the competition, which was held at the studios of the Algerian Public Television Corporation in the capital, on Sunday evening.

Ground and audience advantage for the capital duo

Ittihad Al-Asimah Club, the most active team in the final match in the history of the Algerian Cup with a total of 17 copies, benefits from the advantage of the ground and the audience when it meets the team of Raed Bouqaa (Setif Province), which is active in an inter-regional tournament.

The winner of this match will face the winner of the match between USM Biskra and Mouloudia Oran on the field of the May 19, 1956 stadium in Annaba.

The organizing committee of the competition decided to select four stadiums to host the quarter-finals: July 5, 1962 in the capital, May 19, 1956 in Annaba, Martyr Hamlaoui in Constantine, and Miloud Haddi in Oran.

This decision comes in order to ensure the good functioning of the video arbitration technology, as it will come into effect for the first time in local competitions this season through the Algerian Cup quarter-finals.

Last season’s runner-up, CS Belouizdad, which has also won the title eight times, will receive its rival, Olympique Agbo, who is nominated for a promotion card to the first professional league championship, as it leads by a comfortable margin in the second division.

The winner of this match will play a match against his counterpart who qualifies from the match between Esperance Mostaganem and Nasr Hussein Dey, on the floor of the Chahid Hamalaoui Stadium in Constantine, in the quarter-finals.

The task of the third club with the most wins in the Lady Cup title (8), and the leader of the first professional league championship, Mouloudia Algiers, will not be easy when it travels to the city of Khenchela to meet the local federation.

French coach Patrice Baumel’s squad will make every effort to overcome the host team, based on the results of the draw for the quarter-final venues.

In obtaining the qualification visa, Mouloudia Algiers will be able to play at its favorite arena (Stade 5 July 1962) against the qualifier from the match between JS Azazga and Wydad Tlemcen.

In another confrontation, Constantine Sports Club appears to be the most likely candidate on paper to surpass its opponent, USM Annaba, despite receiving the latter at its home stadium.

The Union is currently focusing on ensuring its survival in the second amateur league championship, where it occupies fifteenth place, while the Constantine squad seeks to reach the farthest stage of the competition and why not win its first title.
