Ahmed Ataf meets his counterparts participating in the ministerial meeting of the Algerian Non-Aligned Movement – Dialogue
Today in Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Ataf, continued his participation at the head of the Algerian delegation in the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement, where he had meetings with many of his counterparts participating in the work of this meeting.
In this context, Minister Ahmed Ataf met with his counterpart from the Republic of Venezuela, Ivan Khil Pinto, where the two parties focused on following up the implementation of the results of the fourth session of the Algerian-Venezuelan Joint Governmental Committee that convened in the middle of last month in Caracas, as well as consultations on the current international situation and ways to coordinate The two countries’ efforts to join the BRICS group, as well as to mobilize more support for the Western Sahara issue.
The head of the Algerian diplomacy also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, Mr. Gigi Odongo, and together they reviewed the progress made in embodying the results of the state visit of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to Algeria and the strategic understandings and consensus that resulted from the talks he held with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. On the diplomatic level, the two ministers agreed on joint cooperation and sharing experiences in the context of preparing for the important events that Uganda will host early next year, especially the Non-Aligned Movement summit and the South Summit.
On the other hand, Ahmed Ataf met with the Nepali Foreign Minister, Narayan Prakash, where the two sides exchanged views on the topics on the agenda of the ministerial meeting, especially prospects for activating the role of the Non-Aligned Movement in the context of the acute crisis in international relations due to the war in Ukraine.
In conclusion, Minister Ahmed Ataf received the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Mr. Gerardo Peñalver, where the two sides discussed the relations of cooperation and solidarity between the two countries in various fields, in light of the results of the visit paid by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel to Algeria at the end of last year and what his meetings led to. With President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, as well as preparing for the next summit of the Group of 77 and China, which will be organized in Havana in mid-September 2023.
