The African Summit on Climate appreciated Algeria’s efforts in the field of climate and energy adaptation during the African Summit on Climate, organized from September 4 to 6 in Kenya, with the participation of Algeria’s ambassador to Nairobi, Mahi Boumediene, in his capacity as representative of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
It should be noted that the decision to hold the African Summit on Climate, organized jointly by the African Union with the Republic of Kenya, was taken during the last African Union summit, held on February 18 and 19 in Addis Ababa, with the aim of providing the African continent with effective mechanisms that enable it to defend its interests within The bodies regarding the climate bet, as well as sensitizing the international community to the emergency climate situation in Africa.
On the occasion of this summit, the head of the Algerian mission reviewed during the ministerial meetings Algeria’s efforts in the field of climate and energy adaptation, referring to the various national programs aimed at reducing carbon emissions, valuing renewable energies and expanding forest areas.
In the same context, he reviewed the various national plans for combating climate change and for energy adaptation, which are based on valuing clean energies for which public authorities have allocated large sums of money in order to provide conditions for the success of their implementation.
It is noteworthy that the summit witnessed the active participation of the Sahrawi delegation, which was led by the President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Ibrahim Ghali, who arrived in Nairobi on September 3, at the head of a delegation that mainly included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Sidati, and was received by the Kenyan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alfred Mutua.
