The Confederation of African Football, on Monday, set the timing of the two-legged matches of the quarter-finals of the Confederation Cup, which will witness the participation of an Algerian team represented by the defending champion of the last edition, USM Algiers Club.

Zinedine Belaid’s teammates finished the group stage at the top of Group A with 13 points, ahead of Egypt’s Modern Future, Libya’s Hilal Benghazi and South Africa’s Super Sport.

Date of the double confrontation against Rivers United

USM Algiers will play against Nigeria’s Rivers United on March 31, according to what was announced by the Confederation of African Football on its official website.

The Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, will host the match scheduled for five o’clock in the evening, Algeria time.

While the return match will be played on April 7, starting at ten o’clock at night, it is likely that it will be held on the grounds of the July 5, 1962 stadium in the Mohamed Boudiaf Olympic Complex in the capital.

Al-Ittihad looks forward to continuing to defend its title when it faces Nigerian Rivers, who is participating for the third time in the continental competition.

Rivers (founded in 2016) ranked second in the third group, after collecting twelve points, the same score as the first-place team, Ghanaian Dreams, which benefited from the advantage in goals scored.

The USM Capital squad, led by Spanish coach Juan Manuel Garrido, will raise the challenge when it travels to Nigerian territory, especially since it will have to play the match during the fasting period, and at temperatures reaching 31 degrees Celsius.
