According to the International Institute for Administrative Development: Algiers is the second smartest city in Africa – Al-Hiwar, Algeria

The International Institute for Administrative Development (IMD), which is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, ranked Algiers among the 5 smartest African cities for the year 2023.

It ranked second after the Egyptian capital, Cairo. At the global level, the capital, Algeria, ranked 123, while Cairo ranked 108.

As for the Moroccan capital Rabat, it ranked third in Africa and 126th in the world, followed by the Kenyan capital Nairobi at 131st in the world, then Tunisia ranked 137th in the world and fifth in Africa.

The IMD classification is based on several criteria as it evaluates the use of new technological developments by these cities. For this year, the institute took into account the use of artificial intelligence to promote telemedicine, e-mobility, digital economy, environmental transformation and digital communication, and the foundation explained that to conduct its study, it asked “at least 20,000 citizens about life in their cities in relation to the priorities they consider More vital for them, such as sustainable housing and road congestion, in addition to creating job opportunities and green spaces through information and communication technologies.
