The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, recalled the efforts made by Algeria, and the initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to calm the situation and encourage the trend towards formulating and activating peaceful solutions to the crises in Africa, especially Niger and Mali.
In a speech delivered by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, in a press conference jointly hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, at the conclusion of the twentieth session of the African-Nordic Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Attaf was briefed on the most important outcomes of the session that concluded its work in A consensual and friendly atmosphere, with distinguished participation from both the African side and the Northern European countries, according to what the minister stated.
Attaf spoke about Algeria’s initiatives in mobilizing efforts to organize an international conference on development in the Sahel. And Algeria’s efforts to achieve sustainable development on the continent, which “were welcomed and supported by all brothers and friends participating in the work of this session.”
On the other hand, Attaf said, “The most important message sent by this consultative meeting lies in promoting dialogue and partnership in light of the exceptional circumstances witnessed, whether at the international level or at the regional level.” It is of utmost importance that this message be issued by a gathering that includes countries known for their commitment to the principles and values enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, and countries with historical relations of solidarity whose roots extend back to the days of combating colonialism and combating racial discrimination on our African continent.”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs explained that the discussions included confirmation of the common orientation of Africa and the countries of the North towards intensifying cooperation and coordination in order to contribute to addressing the various political and security challenges presented internationally and regionally, and towards working to win development stakes on the African continent, and towards further efforts to activate and strengthen the role of multilateral diplomatic work under United Nations umbrella.
The discussions focused in particular on the crisis in international relations at the current stage, and the repercussions of this situation on the African continent, which is also witnessing an accelerating deterioration in the security situation as a result of the multiplicity, accumulation and aggravation of hotspots of tensions, crises and conflicts, especially in the Sahel-Saharan region, according to what the Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed.
In this context, Foreign Minister Lee indicated that the discussions were not limited only to challenges, but also included opportunities for cooperation and economic partnership in the context of activating the pioneering projects of the Continental Agenda 2063, most notably the free trade zone.

The meeting also provided the opportunity for young African students at the African Institute for Specialized Training in Tlemcen, along with their counterparts from the northern countries, to discuss the issue of education in Africa, which will constitute the main priority for the next African Union summit, Attaf adds.

Among the most prominent discussions that the meeting focused on are the components of this partnership that brings together African countries and northern European countries. These are the components that make this partnership balanced, useful and promising in exploiting the opportunities and capabilities provided by the economies of African countries, and a model that can inspire the future of relations between the South and the North in general. Ataf confirms.

Etaf believes that the course achieved the desired success, and that it added a new building block in the process of strengthening relations between African countries and Northern European countries.
