A state of anxiety has prevailed among Egyptian football circles since Monday evening, after the player Ahmed Refaat, a professional for the Modern Future Club, suffered a heart attack during the last minutes of the confrontation that brought him together with the Al-Ittihad Club of Alexandria for the 16th week of the Egyptian League Championship.

It was later revealed, after undergoing medical diagnosis at Zamzam Hospital in Alexandria, that he had suffered a heart attack, as his heart muscle had difficulty working properly for a period of more than an hour, before it returned to beating regularly after repeated attempts to revive him.
A tragedy occurred yesterday in the Egyptian League, when player Ahmed Refaat fell due to cardiac arrest.

Rifaat’s (29 years old) health condition has not improved so far, according to what Modern Future management published on its official page on the social interaction platform “Facebook.”
The disturbing situation stirred up the sporting community in the land of Kenana, where elite league clubs, such as Al-Ahly and Zamalek, rose to show solidarity with their counterparts from Modern Future.
The Minister of Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, also rushed to check on the player’s health and assigned the Supreme Medical Committee for Athletes to carefully follow up on his file, by providing all the medical care he needs.
Football stadiums, like other sports, witness cases every season similar to what Rifaat was exposed to, despite the development taking place in the field of sports medicine.
The most notable incident is the incident of Danish star Christian Eriksen, a Manchester United player, as he was able to regain his health and return to professionalism at the high level after using an external defibrillator.
