A high-level Chinese delegation, consisting of officials from the Xinjiang Autonomous Region (western China), is expected to pay a visit to Algiers next week, to discuss opportunities for cooperation available between the two parties, as a local official in the same region announced to Algerian journalists who recently visited China.
Preparations are currently being made in anticipation of the transfer of this delegation to Algiers, following the state visit conducted by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to China last July, which opened broad horizons for cooperation and partnership between the two countries through the signing of nearly twenty agreements and memorandums of understanding in many fields. As the delegation of Algerian journalists learned during its visit to Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, on the eve of the celebration of the seventy-fourth (74) anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
During its stay in China, the Algerian delegation visited many institutions, government bodies, economic institutions, training institutes, and economic projects located in cities in western China.
The Algerian delegation also visited the Huanghu solar power station, which is the largest station in the world, located in Qinghai Province (northwest of China), with an annual production capacity of approximately 5 billion kilowatts per hour.
According to the explanations provided by the engineers of this combined project, which also produces electrical energy from wind and water from two huge dams in the region, this solar energy production station, which is distributed over a total area of 56 square kilometers in a semi-desert area, provides 2.2 gigawatts of electricity to the local population. And residential complexes in the center and east of the country.
The project, which was launched in 2013, counts about 7 million solar panels, and is entirely operated by smart solutions provided by the Chinese technology giant Huawei, which allows the generated solar energy to be stored in supply units (large-sized batteries) at the same station before delivering it to consumers.
As for Kashgar, one of the cities of the Silk Road, a visit to the old city and its famous market makes the visitor immerse himself in the world of One Thousand and One Nights, where silk, saffron, spices, dry fruits, camel cheese, local hats, and many items and craft jewelry manufactured in the same place are sold in workshops that are more than a century old. Time.
In Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, local officials of this autonomous region assured their guests of their and Beijing’s desire to ensure the region’s social and economic development.

In 2020, that is, two years after eliminating the terrorist activities that shook this region for 15 years, the local government was able to completely eliminate poverty in this vast region, which constitutes one-sixth of the area of China, according to a local official.
Projects that exemplify the success of the policy of integrating local residents into the development process launched by the government include land reclamation projects for growing corn and raising cows and sheep, which extend over thousands of hectares, or a high-tech company project for future agriculture, where vegetables and fodder are produced in shelves. Raised on top of each other in containers equipped with an irrigation system from reused water, without fertilizers or pesticides, giving products better than European Union standards.
The Institute of Islamic Sciences also constitutes a true center for training and spreading moderate Islam and combating extremism and extremism. The programs taught concern Islamic law, in addition to standards of politics and law, in addition to a cultural program.
Near this institute is located the University of Arts, which is a real institution for promoting the cultural heritage of the region, as it includes a museum of musical instruments, which have been used by the people of Xinjiang for centuries, and which reflect their love of arts and music, similar to the “12 Maqams”, which is a Uyghur musical genre included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage.
