A qualitative outcome for the army in fighting the scourge of terrorism and drugs

During last October, units and detachments of the National Army were able to arrest 39 members of support for terrorist groups, while 273 drug dealers were arrested and attempts to bring more than 38 quintals of processed kif across the border with Morocco were thwarted.

The operational outcome of the People’s National Army, for the month of last October, according to what was reported by the Army Magazine in its latest issue, stated that, within the framework of combating terrorism, detachments of the People’s National Army were able to arrest 39 members of support for terrorist groups during separate operations across the national territory, with the seizure of 101 firearms. And 4 122 mm rocket shells.

The same interests added that, within the framework of combating organized crime and continuing the tireless efforts aimed at confronting the scourge of drug trafficking in the country, joint detachments of the People’s National Army, in coordination with various security services during operations across the military regions, arrested 237 drug dealers and thwarted attempts to bring in 38 quintals and 73 kilograms of Processed kif crossed the border with Morocco, while 17 kilograms of cocaine and 2 million 405 thousand and 196 hallucinogenic tablets were seized.

The detachments of the People’s National Army also arrested 90 people in the context of smuggling and illegal prospecting for gold, as 6 metal detectors, 415 hammers, 682 electric generators, 60 fanarts of a mixture of gold and stones were seized, in addition to 112 vehicles of various types. Attempts to smuggle 130,173 liters of fuel were thwarted.

On the other hand, coast guards thwarted illegal immigration attempts on the national coasts, and rescued people on board traditional-made boats, while 1,580 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory.

These specific operations, carried out by units and detachments of the People’s National Army, come in the context of the continuing efforts made in combating terrorism and combating organized crime in all its forms, to reflect the extent of the high professionalism, constant vigilance and readiness of the armed forces throughout the national territory.
