80 percent of families have a fixed telephone

The percentage of households available on a fixed line (wireless line, fourth generation LTE, and fiber optics) reached 80 percent during the second quarter of 2023 in Algeria, i.e. an increase of 1.76 percent compared to the first quarter, according to the latest report of the Post and Electronic Communications Regulatory Authority.
According to the same report, which was prepared on the basis of 44.18 million people and a number of families reaching 7.36 million as of June 30, 2023, “the percentage of families equipped with a fixed telephone line in Algeria reached 80 percent during the second quarter after it was estimated at 78.24 percent during the first quarter.” That is, recording an increase of 1.78 percent within three months.”
This report was prepared on the basis of a population ratio of 44.18 million people and a number of families of 7.36 million as of June 30, 2023. The number of subscribers to fixed-line telephone networks exceeded 5.91 million subscribers during the second quarter of 2023, while it was estimated at 5.75 million subscribers during the first quarter of the same year, an increase of 2.69 percent.
Of the 5.91 million subscribers to fixed telephone networks, more than 5.45 million subscribers are resident subscribers and 459,631 are professional subscribers. On the other hand, the regulatory authority explained that out of the total number of subscribers to fixed telephone networks until last June 30, 3.60 million subscribers to wired networks, 1.55 million to 4G wireless networks LTE, and 740,109 to the fiber optic network to the home (FTTH). ).
As for the fixed-line access rate, it rose from 13.04 percent during the first quarter of 2023 to 13.38 percent during the second quarter of the same year.
