5.3 million families were provided with fixed-line Internet

The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi Triki, said on Monday in Constantine that the percentage of connections to the fiber optic network to the home in the same state has reached more than 34 percent of the total number of beneficiaries of the Internet service.
The Minister explained, in a press statement on the sidelines of a field visit to this state, that “more than a third of the families in this state have been supported by fiber optic technology to homes via fixed line,” indicating that he had given instructions to accelerate the pace of connectivity projects across the rest of the residential areas at the level of the state.
Pepe Triki highlighted that “Algeria has made giant strides in providing residents with the Internet via fixed-line telephone across the entire national territory,” noting that “the number of families that have been provided with this technology has jumped from 3.5 million during the year 2020 to 5.3 million.” During the year 2023, thanks to the projects and efforts that have been intensified to modernize the sector and provide a public service that meets the citizen’s aspirations.”
During his inspection visit to the sector’s projects in the state, the minister supervised the process of connecting 7,000 homes to the fiber optic network in the Ali Menjali Administrative District and putting into service an antenna belonging to the Mobilis company in the western expansion of this new city.
He also supervised the process of connecting 5,000 homes across the neighborhoods of 20 August, Boujnana and 5 July (Municipality of Constantine) to the fiber optic network that reaches all homes.
Before that, the Minister inspected the process of renewing the old copper Internet network and replacing it with a fiber optic network across the neighborhoods of this local community, where the Internet coverage rate reached 80 percent.
