12 million beneficiaries of the Algeria Post golden card
The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi Triki, revealed that the Algeria Postal Corporation registered 12 million beneficiaries of the golden card, after this number did not exceed 6 million in the year 2020.
The minister explained, during a presentation he gave at the Al-Mujahid newspaper forum, on the eve of World Postal Day, that the number of golden card holders has moved from 6 million in 2020 to 12 million currently, indicating that the goal is to reach 15 million beneficiaries by the end of 2024.
Pepe Triki indicated that Algeria Post aspires to increase the number of automated counters, which currently number 1,985, to 3,400 by the end of 2024, after it had not exceeded 1,400 in 2020. He pointed out that he expects the number of electronic payment transactions using the gold card to exceed 60 million transactions with End of the current year.
The minister added that Algeria Post seeks to reach 4,240 fixed post offices and 115 mobile offices across the country, revealing, on the other hand, the existence of “projects that will allow the sector to achieve the goals set to keep pace with the needs of citizens in the field of the Internet.”
He pointed out that among the established goals is to connect two-thirds of families to fixed Internet by the end of 2024.
The Minister stressed that the government is continuing its efforts to “generalize and enhance online services and electronic payment by developing a solid and secure infrastructure for electronic communications, as well as digitizing postal financial services.”
