As for transferring money via mobile phone (customers of the same financial institution), more than 7.2 million transactions were witnessed during the same period, with a value exceeding 106 billion DZD, an increase of 140 percent and 187 percent, respectively, on an annual basis.
Mobile payment interoperability has recently been launched between customers of different banks and financial institutions, after it was implemented between customers of the same bank or financial institution.
For its part, online payment activity is witnessing an increase in its numbers, thanks to the increase in the number of merchants involved in the interbank electronic payment system to 510 “web merchants,” compared to 337 during the first quarter of last year, according to the association’s results.
The number of transactions during the first quarter of the current year reached 3.2 million transactions (+18 percent), with a total amount of 9.3 billion dinars (+63 percent), distributed among the activities of communications, transportation, insurance, billing, administrative services, services, selling goods, and sports. And entertainment.
As for electronic payment transactions via payment terminals (TPE), their number during the first quarter of this year reached more than 1.3 million transactions (+55 percent), with a value exceeding 10 billion dinars (+49 percent), with an increase recorded in the number of electronic payment terminals to reach 53,756 stations, an increase of 4,726 stations compared to the first quarter of last year.
The total number of ATM withdrawals during the first quarter of this year exceeded 45 million transactions, with a value of approximately 860 billion DZD, while the total number of bank ATMs operating during the first quarter reached 3,868 devices, an increase of 155 devices on an annual basis.
The Automated Cash Group was established in June 2014, and it consists of 18 banks in addition to Algeria Post, while the Bank of Algeria contributes to it – as a non-involved member – in order to ensure the conformity of the systems, means of payment and standards applied in this area with the applicable regulation.
The assembly supervises the leadership of the automated cash system and its promotion by generalizing the use of electronic payment methods.
