10 soldiers were killed, surrounded by fire in Bejaia – Al-Hiwar, Algeria

Today, Monday, the Ministry of National Defense announced the death of 10 soldiers and the injury of 25 others with injuries of varying severity during the evacuation of a detachment of People’s National Army in the Oued Dass region of Beni Ksila and Mchati neighboring in the wilaya of Bejaia, at dawn today, due to the fires that broke out in the area.

The statement of the Ministry of National Defense stated that the force of the winds increased and caused a random change in the direction of the fires that broke out in the wilaya of Bejaia in the 5th Military Region, yesterday, Sunday, especially at the level of the municipalities of Ksar and Beni Ksila, towards the location of a detachment of the People’s National Army.

The statement adds that during the evacuation process and due to the rapid spread of fire and fumes, the military personnel were trapped with the nearby residents of Al-Mashati, which, unfortunately, caused the death of 10 soldiers belonging to the People’s National Army detachment present in the Bani Kesila area, in addition to the injury of 25 soldiers with injuries of varying severity, who were evacuated directly to the nearby hospital institutions.

The source conveyed on behalf of Lieutenant General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of People’s National Army, in his name and on behalf of all the personnel of People’s National Army, sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the martyrs and their families and to the military institution, hoping that God Almighty may their pure souls be filled with His wide mercy and dwell them in His spacious gardens with the martyrs and righteous friends, and that He inspires their families with beautiful patience and solace in this great affliction, wishing a speedy recovery for the rest of the injured.

The Ministry of National Defense indicated the harnessing of important material and human means, since the first hours of its outbreak, represented by two aircraft specialized in extinguishing fires, and the intervention of civil protection agents and detachments of People’s National Army to extinguish the fires.
